All the clothing etc. which is collected by CCI is exported to Eastern Europe where it is graded for resale or recycling.
Our partners in Eastern Europe have been encouraged to develop their business and provide much needed employment. They have helped others form smaller retail business and the network of sales has spread all across Eastern Europe.
As you can see in the photos, the bags of clothing are graded and sorted out into men’s, women’s, children’s winter or summer clothing before being sent on to be sold by retailers.
The retail outlets are very busy and as you can see our second-hand clothing is in great demand, last years fashions once again become desired and cherished, but much more is happening here. We are helping people who could not afford to buy good quality fashionable clothing. Your clothing can once again give someone that feel good factor, lifting their spirits and creating an atmosphere of prosperity which can not be a bad thing.
Each week 1,000s of families shop in the second-hand clothing shops, just as we in Northern Ireland buy new clothing. To the people in Eastern Europe it’s a way of life, no doubt they would love to be buying new clothing but at this time this is what they can afford for themselves and their families.
